This year was unlike like anything we could have imagined. We have all had to throw out our best laid plans...and in January of this year we had so many plans for Sanctuary Project.

Internally, the uncertain combination of a company in its 3rd year coupled with a global pandemic gave all of us moments of fear and anxiety. But looking back now as we sit at the end of this unprecedented year, we see we should never have been worried at all.

The overwhelming support we received this year from our customers, our donors, and our wholesale partners is difficult to put into words. We are in awe of the generosity we have experienced, at the faithfulness of the God who called us to build Sanctuary Project, and at the doors that have been opened to us in the most unlikely of times.

Below you can read more details about how your partnership with our mission to employ and empower survivors has impacted the women we serve. Your support this year has been the most beautiful gift to our community this year. We are excited to continue on with you into 2021, and are looking forward to another year of lives and hearts being transformed here at Sanctuary Project.

With Gratitude,

Our mission is not just to employ but also empower survivors. Because of your abundant support this year we have not only been able to employ more survivors than ever, but we have been able to empower our women more than ever before. Here are some of the empowering moments we saw at Sanctuary Project this year :

  • 2 of our Job Trainees were promoted to Survivor-Leaders
  • We hired a peer-recovery support specialist, offering 1-1 sessions with our women to help steward their recovery
  • 2 survivors bought their first homes
  • 1 survivor completed her first semester of her degree in social work AND made the Dean’s List!

We encourage the women we serve to become financially self supporting and we have always had this goal for ourselves as well. Sanctuary Project was designed so that we could one day fully fund our nonprofit activity through jewelry sales...and this year WE DID IT!

In 2020 our sales fully covered all of our employment and operating expenses for the entire year for the first time! We are so excited about this major milestone in our mission, and we are blown away by how you all have made this dream possible for us so much sooner than we ever imagined!

What this means is that we can now use the donations we receive to start dreaming about how we can expand the services Sanctuary Project offers to survivors. new national attention on anti-trafficking

One of the good things to come out of 2020 was that this year put a long overdue spotlight on the horror and reality of sex trafficking - how it’s not just an "over there problem, but a here problem and a now problem”. We are honored to be one of the survivor voices lifted up in the media this year as experts in our field, and to have had the opportunity to speak into new spaces about survivor advocacy, justice, and re-entry into the workforce.

how to get involved in 2021

None of the amazing growth we've seen this year would be possible without you, and all we hope to do in the future for survivors can't happen without your continued support for our mission. We have big dreams for this community, and we are in the early stages of planning to expand the support and services we offer to survivors of trafficking, violence and addiction beyond employment. If you have a heart to see lives restored, hearts healed, and women lifted up in community with other survivors there are 3 ways you can partner with us and the work we do here :

thank you!
